Mac OS X: Automatically play movies when you open them

Want to automatically play movies when you open them in QuickTime Player?

Enter the following command on the Shell:

defaults write com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX MGPlayMovieOnOpen 1

Likewise for QuickTime Player, if you’d like to automatically show subtitles on movies
that support them, try this on the command line:

defaults write com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX MGEnableCCAndSubtitlesOnOpen 1
